چکیده
The percentage occurrence of titled deep convective clouds (DCCs) is rarely examined but it crucial to overcome the challenges precise measurement rainfall intensity and location during dreadful weather events. Present study carried out with this objective analysed 2451 globally distributed DCCs identified by Ku-band (13.6 GHz) radar reflectivity profiles Dual-frequency Precipitation Radar aboard Global Measurement mission under varying conditions environmental vertical wind shear (EVWS) 2018. Globally (tropics) 60.68% (55.29%) that produced intense rain (>50 mm/hr) are strengthened strong EVWS thus may have possibility vertically tilted structure. Substantial 60.49% developed grow deeper (up 12 km) in atmosphere. Statistics on global distribution different categories cloud height would be an important source information for assessment distribution, especially extreme weather.

Convective Clouds
A new technique for rendering convective clouds is suggested. The technique uses two lattice-Boltzmann (LB) models, one for generating the spatial and temporal distribution of water density and the other for photon transport, that is, lighting the water density with correct anisotropic scattering. The common LB structure is easily mapped to parallel execution environments such as a GPU or multi...
متن کاملRobust relations between CCN and the vertical evolution of cloud drop size distribution in deep convective clouds
In-situ measurements in convective clouds (up to the freezing level) over the Amazon basin show that smoke from deforestation fires prevents clouds from precipitating until they acquire a vertical development of at least 4 km, compared to only 1–2 km in clean clouds. The average cloud depth required for the onset of warm rain increased by ∼350 m for each additional 100 cloud condensation nuclei...
متن کاملGlobal anthropogenic aerosol effects on convective clouds in ECHAM5-HAM
Aerosols affect the climate system by changing cloud characteristics in many ways. They act as cloud condensation and ice nuclei and may have an influence on the hydrological cycle. Here we investigate aerosol effects on convective clouds by extending the double-moment cloud microphysics scheme developed for stratiform clouds, which is coupled to the HAM double-moment aerosol scheme, to convect...
متن کاملInvestigation of Vertical Wind Shear Characteristics Using 50m Meteorological Tower Data
Wind measurement is important for estimating wind energy potential, but it is relatively cost-intensive and often conducted at a narrow height from the ground level. The typical range of most turbine hub heights is from 30-50 m or even higher. Extrapolation on wind data thus becomes necessary to estimate the wind speed at different heights. Doing so requires the essential understanding of wind ...

This presentation is a summary of research progress supported under the Atmospheric Radiation Measurement (ARM) project entitled "Parameterization of Convective Clouds, Mesoscale Convective Systems, and Con'o'ective-Generated Clouds." The approach used in this research is to perform explicit simulations of convective clouds and mesoscale convective systems for well-documented observed cases. Th...
